Select Ka Makana Ali‘i Retailers, Eateries to Commence Operations Thursday

The Center continues to enforce safety protocol, social distancing and increased cleaning to ensure the safety of its community

KAPOLEI, HI (September 24, 2020) — Ka Makana Ali‘i is pleased to announce that select retailers and eateries at the Center will commence operations on Thursday, Sept. 24. The Center’s operating hours will remain from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Effective Thursday, some retailers will observe Center hours, others may opt to modify their hours of operation, and some may remain closed.

As the largest open-air property in West O’ahu, Ka Makana Ali‘i offers an extensive selection of shopping and dining options, with a tenant mix of more than 50 percent locally owned and operated establishments.

Under the first tier of Honolulu’s COVID-19 Recovery Framework, retailers will be limiting capacity to 50 percent to allow for social distancing. Some of Ka Makana Ali‘i retailers that will reopen on Thursday include: Adore, Aerie, American Eagle, AVEDA Ho’ala Salon & Spa, Famous Footwear, Hawaii’s Finest, Kay Jewelers, Magnolia Ice Cream & Treats, No‘eau Designers, Old Navy, Pictures Plus Prints, Sephora, T&C Surf Designs, The Ultimate Foot Store, Thinker Toys, Zales, and Zumiez. Some of the retailers opening Friday include: Hollister and Macy’s.

The following essential retailers and services remained open for the duration of the second stay-at-home, work-from-home order: Foodland Farms, Hampton Inn & Suites, Straub Medical Center Kapolei Clinic and Urgent Care, Hawaii Family Dental, PetSmart, Medic808, AT&T, T- Mobile, Verizon, Tricked Out Accessories, Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate and select restaurants and eateries for takeout, curbside pick-up and delivery.

Restaurants open for dine-in will allow for up to five people from the same household, socially distanced from others at 50 percent capacity. Reservations are recommended and contact information will be collected. Limited dine-in will be available at a number of restaurants including The Cheesecake Factory, Mahi ‘ai Table, Moani Island Bistro, and Sakura Teppanyaki and Sushi Bar.

Seating areas throughout the Center, including Center Court and the Food Market, may be temporarily modified. The Center has remained open for business; but it is up to each individual retailer to open its doors. Ka Makana Ali‘i continues to monitor the news around COVID-19 and the mandates of public health, state and local authorities. The Center will continue to take extra precautions and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for regular cleaning, including:

  • Higher frequency of cleaning and disinfecting the property

  • Making available hand sanitizers throughout the property

  • Reminding visitors of the importance of personal hygiene

Guests are asked to avoid entering the Center if they have flu-like symptoms or otherwise do not feel well. Guests entering the property are asked to maintain a six-foot distance from one another and to avoid shaking hands or engaging in unnecessary physical contact. Patrons entering the Center shall wear face masks that cover the nose and mouth. These should be worn at all times while at Ka Makana Ali‘i.
